These stud earrings were handmade from 18 gauge copper and were meant to awaken your wild and free spirit with their paw print design. After sawing the 8 mm discs and stamping the paw design on the flat blank, the discs were hammered on a steel block to develop the dome shape that contributes character, dimension, and highlights from light reflecting off the curved surfaces. The completed domes were soldered to sterling silver hypoallergenic studs with an acetylene torch. A dark patina was brushed into the paws and applied to the surface of the earrings, allowing brush strokes to be produced during finishing. These brush strokes produce an antiqued appearance, while accentuating areas of the underlying copper.
