This butterfly pendant was sawed by hand from 18 sterling silver with a fine bladed jewelry saw and domed on a steel dapping block to capture the sense of fluttering flight. A pierced and cut wing design, which entails sawing out the inner wing shapes by feeding the blade through pilot holes. The curved shape also reflects light into a natural display of highlights while also adding dimension to the pendant for a 3-D appearance. The burnished finish brings out the natural radiance of the sterling silver.
