This handmade sterling silver pendant fuses jewelry and post-impressionist art while depicting a romantic starry night with a green light representing the northing lights. I filed the edges, and stamped stars into the hand sawed 20 gauge sterling silver backing plate. An 18 gauge copper and 20 gauge bronze star were brazed onto the backing plate along with a stone setting using an acetylene torch and sterling silver solder. The sterling silver backing and stars were treated with an oxidizing patina that when brushed to reveal some of the underlying metals, produces a shadow effect around the stars and a swirling brushed pattern between the stars similar to the brush stroke patterns used by Van Gogh to paint his famous Starry Night. A green jade was set in the cup to serve as the green light from the aurora borealis to pull all the elements together in a harmonious fusion that captures the energy of a night sky.
Measuring 1.25 inches long by .75 inch wide, the pendant comes with a copper ball chain, however, I also have black Greek leather cords with adjustable slip knots and sterling silver chains available. On the backside of the pendant, I can stamp or engrave a name, date, or just my own artist's signature along with a handmade stamp
