Swirls and waves on aluminum disc earrings

Featuring oceanic spirals, these disc earrings were sawed by hand from 18 gauge aluminum using a jewelry saw. The earrings were pounded with a 3 lb demolition hammered on a steel spiral patterned block to create the oceanic spiral design. While I could have used a rolling mill, hammering the earrings by hand produces a unique artistic touch and removes the uniformity of rolled metals. To break the pattern and add a light airy appearance, I sawed a circular window in both earrings.

The discs measure about 1.5 inches in length by 1.25 inches in width and dangle from hypoallergenic stainless steel ear wires. You can also personalize these earrings with your own cut outs in place of the ovular windows or request different patterns. Of course, there are no limits to how you can personalize your earrings, so go ahead and be creative.

Not to toot my own horn, but I love these earrings and made myself a pair that I wear almost all the time. The lightweight aluminum is really comfortable and can easily be mistaken for much more expensive sterling silver.
