Sterling silver ring with rustic hammered finish and wave design

Scattering silver rays with a honeycomb texture framing a flowing geometrical design imprinted using handmade Native American border stamps, this sterling silver ring is an artistic exploration of texture and pattern that melds both simplicity and complexity in statement of mathematical intrigue and beauty.

Each ring band is hand-sheared 8 mm wide from 18 gauge sterling silver and hammered along the edges with a small ball peen hammer to create the honeycomb texture. The stampwork is darkened with a black patina to provide contrast against the reflective shine of polish silver. Purchased directly from a Navajo Metal Stamp Crafter, these unique metal stamps were carved by entirely by hand from rebar and railroad ties to imprint precious metals with design patterns. Each design element making up the pattern represents a single strike of the metal stamp with a hammer to create an impression deep in the flat ring band. After completion of the imprinted design, the band is shaped into a ring by tapping over a metal mandrel using a nylon mallet and the ends are joined together at a seam using silver solder heated by an acetylene torch.
