One of my all time favourite ring designs that I personally wear, this sterling silver feather ring wraps a hand sawed feather fused to a sterling silver ring shank around your finger. The intricate feather was sawed from 18 gauge sterling silver with a jewelry saw and joined to a 16 gauge custom fitted ring shank using an acetylene torch and silver solder before hammering the flat into a ring shape on a steel mandrel. When the ends of the sterling silver ring shank perfectly align, the joined is soldered and filed smooth to create a nearly invisible seam. Fine lines were chased into the feather and darken with grey patina to add detail and contrast against glow of brushed silver. Brushed finishes have a rustic handmade appearance with an antique touch, however this ring can also be tumbled to a perfect mirror finish.
