The squares were sheared ¾ inch by ¾ inch from 18 gauge (1mm thick) sterling silver and joined to pure sterling silver torpedo style links using sterling silver solder and an acetylene torch. While the temptation may exist to use glue and thinner gauge sterling silver such as 20 or 22 gauge to lower production costs, this thicker 18 gauge sterling silver does not dent or bend when hammering a large metal stamp such as the monogram and soldered joints are far superior to heat and UV sensitive resins for joining metals.
