Cut and milled in flat stock, the ring is shaped by working the flat band into a round shape over a steel ring mandrel and perfectly aligning the ends. To minimize interruption to the cross weave pattern, a Hydroflux welder with a flame no wider than a pencil tip with a point temperature of 5000 F to both a perfectly solder and fuse the sterling silver along the joint produces a nearly undetectable joint line. A potassium sulphide based patina was then applied into the grooves and ring polished by hand to reveal the beauty of design with distinct highlights on the raised surfaces.
